Pet Peeve

I hate hate HATE it when people try to talk to you when you're in a stall in a public restroom! What are they thinking? Don't they know that is private time and you're not allowed to acknowledge that anyone else is there? It's so awkward and embarrassing!

Thanks for the vent. I feel better now.

Grillin' Guy

We finally got our grill set up! We received a great outdoor grill from my parents for Christmas (thanks so much!), but we've been so busy and the weather has been so cold that we haven't been able to set it up until now. When we opened the box we discovered a big crack in the lid, but thankfully we were able to exchange it even though it was six months old and we didn't have a receipt! Tyler did a great job putting it all together while I did my homework. We're excited to figure out how to use it, and then start having people over for grilling parties!!

Homecoming

This weekend we took a quick trip over to Lander to watch Tyler's sister perform her senior dance recital. She did great. When we came home, it was like Spring had finally arrived! Our baby tulips take longer to bloom than most, so we were thrilled to see all the changes in our yard. Happy Spring!!!

Goodbye Grandpa

My Grandpa Haroldsen passed away on Monday evening at the age of 80. He has been heroically fighting cancer for the last year and a half. It has been a difficult two weeks, but it was wonderful to have him home, and Hospice was so good to him. The family is all coming together this weekend to celebrate his life. Almost all of his 8 children (including 1 that was waiting for him on the other side of the veil), 40 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren will be there. My uncle put this together to share with everyone.

Gardens and Miracles

What a great day to be outside! It was warm, sunny, and wonderful. This afternoon Tyler fertilized the lawn (he is a true blue "grass man"), and I planted our vegetable garden. We lucked out last year because we moved in and the garden was already planted and grown. All we had to do was harvest the fruits of the previous owners' labor! This year, however, it was all up to us. I don't have the homemaker's instincts, and I really want this garden to turn out, so I turned to the older, wiser generations for help. Grandma and Mom gave me some good pointers, and I got lots of great advise from my gardening pro uncle Ron. We have two raised garden boxes and some garden rows along our back fence. Not a huge garden, but just enough for me to manage. I planted beans and carrots along the fence, cucumbers and pumpkins in one box, and tomatoes in the other. Since we used tomato plants and this is Rexburg, we created a greenhouse to protect them until it gets more consistently warmer here. I'm so excited to see what grows! Hopefully I didn't mess it all up, or we'll be raiding everyone else's garden this fall!


On a side note, the unexpected and unlikely actually happened. We got our economic stimulus check! I've been pretty skeptical about it, taking an "I'll believe it when I see it" stance on it. In the mail today, however, we got a notice explaining that we should be getting it any day. We checked our account online, and it was already there! Amazing.

I'm Free! I'm Free! (dang it)

I just presented my paper! Tonight was the last night of class. I finished writing my paper last night (my wonderfully patient husband had a great time mowing the lawn while I worked), and presented it to the class tonight.

I get a few days of freedom, and next week its back to work. I'll have class three nights a week, but thankfully it's being transmitted to Idaho Falls.

I'll try to get some pictures this weekend of our green lawn (not covered with snow finally!), our little flowers, and the buds on the trees. Happy Spring!!!!

Oh Happy Day!

I just found out that the Young Women are teaching Primary tomorrow, including singing time. I get to go to Relief Society for once!
